The Last Shimmer Short Story Review

The Last Shimmer
by Sage Hyatt

It’s not easy to write a short story. The writer has to introduce the characters, set the scene, and tell a story from beginning to end. Every word matters. Good writers make it look easy.

Sage Hyatt makes it look easy.

In just 27 pages, Hyatt tells us about a student named Tiger Lily Dander who wakes up on an extraordinary day and her heroic efforts to save the human race. In her first chapter, she tells us all we need to know to jump into the story. I babble when I write or talk, which is why I’m impressed by her tight storytelling.

Sage wrote this short story when she was 10. I know I’m older than she and her target audience are but when the storytelling is this good, so what?

Please write more stories, Sage Hyatt. I want to read them!
